Female Skull Value Studies Begun!

Just the first one! I’ll aim to get them all done within 24 hours! I’ll be completing them after work so i’ll only have around 8 hours!

Female Skull Studies for Crimson Daggers Mentoring with Shyam Shriram!

I’m doing an online mentoring program taught by the awesome Shyam Shriram.
The classes are held over at the Crimson Daggers forum here.
The whole initiative was setup by Daniel Warren and Dave Rapoza (the creators of the forum). If you haven’t heard of it before and would like to join in with improving your art skills then you can learn about the Crimson Daggers here. All abilities are welcome as we’re all about improving ourselves artistically.

So these are my first studies I’ve completed for the first assignment:

The full assignment is this (I’ve only finished the first part!):
10 Female Skull Drawings – please spend more time on the construction, only line drawings.
10 Female Skull Paintings (Black & White, no need to render too much, just concentrate on the construction and values/tones)
5 Master copies

More Maul!

Multiply layer core shadows, eyes and general face scaping! Still a lot to do. The more I do, the longer I realise this will take to reach the finish I want. I just need to set this benchmark of achievement so I can push at getting faster and better than whatever this turns out to be.

Sith+ Darth Maul Alternate Universe Update

20120824-013350.jpg

Updated Maul. Added background, he’s seated in his cockpit. A cockpit of what? A Scimitar/Sith Infiltrator? Nope! What he’s piloting will give away too much a this stage as I’m not sure if this project with work or not. Using it for massive learning and good ol’fashioned fun! The “alternate” universe is a non-star wars universe though! Taking Maul out of Star Wars and testing and bending his design slowly until he cracks and explodes. More to do of course!

Alternate universe Darth Maul head shot Wip!

Spent a good amount of time on it this week. Pushing it as much as possible. Rendering light sources properly, dark darks, highlights defining core shadows more clearly too!

Year of the Dragon!

Here are a select few dragons that some of the children I teach have been painting!

“Bally” areas on clothing

“Bally” areas on clothing occur more around areas of friction. Accessories such as bags or heavy over coats could account for it.

Here it has occurred on a two month old tshirt worn only a few time. Affected area is around my hip area on the right side due to how I wear my bag on my shoulder.

In super hi def movies of the future and maybe next gen video games, this detail could add character and realism even if it is pretty finicky detail to add.
